Restaurant Review: Chef Geoff’s

Restaurant Name: Chef Geoff’s

Location: 3201 New Mexico Avenue

Washington, DC 20016

For Dinner: ordered Sunset Special (Tuscan Onion soup, Porcini dusted Salmon, Ratatouille, Toasted Farro, Red pepper cream, and Basil Pesto, and a Chai Spiced Bundt Cake for $19.95)

Grade: B+

Chef Geoff’s is a popular place for American University students to go and for good reason, too. The ambiance and feel of the restaurant is very classy so I almost expected it to be over the top expensive, but while perusing the menu, the sunset special was enough to make a college student laugh with glee. The price range was perfect and it included a full course meal. The soup was reminscent of French Onion, but it wasn’t as cheesily and bread assaulted as its French counterpart, definitely a plus since I didn’t like all that stuff anyway.

The salmon was good, but still rather ordinary to my tastes. Surprisingly, the portion was enough to fill me but not overbloat my stomach. I still had room for the dessert. Chef Geoff’s also has a nice selection of drinks of which I didn’t try at the time. The meal was fulfilling and definitely felt classy, a good bang for the buck kind of deal. The presentation of the food is an A+, that’s half the battle. Overall, I would recommend this place to any and all students who want to go a little classier but wants to save money as well.
